    Description

This is a  antique pin from the Patriotic Order Sons of America, a fraternal organization founded in 1847. It is organized into local branches called Washington Camps or W.C's. There's a bar pin from which the star and emblem hands which reads "W.C.No 30". I was in hopes that I could find the location of this camp, but unfortunately I found camps with this number in Roaring  Spring, Pennsylvania; Richmond, Virginia, Taneytown, Maryland; Plainfield, New Jersey, Fairplay and Glenwood Springs, Colorado; and High Point, North Carolina! There could be others. High Point is the closest to me, but with the way things travel around, that's not necessarily its origin. The bar is 7/8 inch across and just over 1 1/8 inch from top to bottom. It's delicately engraved, and I think it's from the late 19th or early 20th century, but the gold fill is quite worn on the ends of the bar and the top 2 points of the star.
