ceremonial fraternal sword, featuring a gold enamel painted metal alloy pommel, with a bust of
Ame
ri
can
revolutionary general
and first
Ame
ri
can
president
George Washington.
The highly decorative cross guard is also dripping with detail and fine ornamentation, with one side of the hand cross guard featuring the acronym
P.O.S.A.,
realized in a highly stylized monogram. In the center of the cross guard on the other side of the sword can be found the stars and bars of the
Ame
ri
can
flag in a characteristic shield emblem. The bottom of the hardened steel blade has a cursive, etched signature of the previous owner
'M. C. Willy, 1886'
scribed on the blade's facia above the cross guard. The highly decorative, stylized, fluted cross guard is wonderfully tooled and very fine. The handle grip features threaded, wound brass threaded wrap. A simply wonderful
